HOW IT WORKS

Once you have decided that you'd like to commission a portrait, we will work together to choose the best photo. Please keep in mind that these pieces are created directly from a photograph, so a high quality photo is necessary. If you have a low-res or not-so-great photo, I am happy to edit it and see if we can make it work!

Your photo must be provided and approved before the commission is accepted. Once approved, a 50% non-refundable deposit is required in order for work to begin. Your deposit will be returned if for any reason I am unable to complete the project.

Portraits are generally completed in about four to six weeks depending on complexity and schedule. If you require a rush or completion by a certain date, please let me know and I will do my very best to accommodate.

My portraits are delivered framed to avoid any damage to the paper or drawing. For this reason, the cost of basic black or white framing is included in all base pricing.

Are all of your portraits hand drawn?

Yes. Each portrait is created completely by hand. Digital enhancements are not used in any way to create the final piece.

Do you work in color?

My portraits are typically created in graphite pencil only. Occasionally, by request, I will work with clients to add in color where possible or appropriate but full color portraits are not available at this time.

Why do your pieces come framed?

Framing prevents damage post shipping - fingerprints, papers tears, etc. Many hours and so much love is poured into every single piece and I want you to be able to enjoy your drawing for years to come! If you aren't feeling the basic black or white framing option, let's chat and figure out something else that works for you!

Can you create one portrait from multiple photos?

Yes! Oftentimes clients will provide multiple photos of different pets or family members and ask that they be combined into one portrait. As long as all of the photos are of high quality with similar lighting, this is absolutely doable!

I want to give someone a portrait as a gift but I don't have a photo...

Gift certificates are available in place of portraits. Each gift certificate comes with a post card showing past works as well as contact information. I will work directly with the recipient to choose a photo and complete the finished piece.

Will you send photos of your work in progress?

My portraits are created as a direct photorealistic representation of the agreed upon photo, leaving very little to no room for interpretation or artistic license. Meaning... no surprises! For this reason, I do not offer work in progress shots.

What if I don't have a good photo?

If you are within driving distance, I am happy to come snap some photos!

Do you ship your portraits?

Yes, global shipping or local delivery is available for an additional cost. Local clients may also arrange pick up at a mutually convenient location.

Are there size restrictions?

Portraits are not available any smaller than 10" x 10" (8x10ish frame), but if you are looking for a mural size, the sky is the limit! Depending on the complexity of your photo, I may make a suggestion on what size I think is appropriate.

What form of payment do you accept?

Cash, Venmo, check, and major credit cards are accepted. An additional processing fee (2.9%) will be applied to credit card transactions.
